Franklin Square is such a gem of a park. Photographers all over the city are familiar with it and it’s a very popular place to shoot sessions of all kinds. And for good reason, it’s filled with little nooks and cranny’s that are perfect for photos. You want a fountain? Flowers? Bricks? A Creek? That’s what made it the perfect spot for Steph and Beth’s engagement session.
It can be hard to choose a location for an engagement session, and it’s something I help clients with all the time. For Steph and Beth’s session, we actually had two different locations. First we started at their house, because come on, do you see the view they have in their backyard? And then we hopped in the car and headed down to Franklin Square. Having the two different locations gave Steph and Beth so many fun options for their photos. They could have meaningful images at their house, and fun photos in downtown Syracuse.
Have you ever noticed that the weather in Syracuse changes every 2 seconds? It can make scheduling sessions so difficult sometimes! With wedding days, you’re locked in to a date, but with engagement sessions there’s always that option to reschedule if the weather takes a turn for the worse. But, that’s what makes it so tricky around here. One minute it could be pouring rain and the next moment, golden sunshine is streaming down. We almost ended up rescheduling this session for that very reason, but gosh I’m glad we didn’t! In between locations we got a small smattering of rain, but then the sun came out and it was just perfection!!
So what’s the moral of the story when it comes to weather in Syracuse? Sometimes you just gotta roll with the punches around here!
I can not wait to catch up with these two this summer for their wedding at the Sinclair in Skaneateles, it is going to be amazing!
