I was supposed to meet Katie and Nate in Skaneateles on a Saturday night for their engagement session at the lake park. But when I arrived at the park, there was a concert! Ack! Luckily for them (and for all of my couples) I am ALWAYS early to things. So I quickly let them know what was happening at we were able to pivot our session over to Emerson Park in Auburn, NY. I think we made the right choice, I mean the light was INSANE.
I’ve shot weddings at Emerson Park before, but for some reason it never pops into my head as an engagement session option. That will change now because of this session. The sun sets in the perfect direction, meaning you can get golden light AND great backgrounds. It has trees, and water, and of course the beautiful floral gardens near the pavilion (which we avoided because a wedding was happening).
I was so happy that our location change resulted in such an optimal spot for this session!
Katie and Nate are getting married in just a little more than a week. Usually I do engagement sessions earlier on in the engagement process so people can use them for their save the dates, but if you don’t need them for that, we can do a session whenever! For Katie and Nate the important part of the session was making sure that they felt comfortable in front of the camera and with me.
I spend so much time with my couples on their wedding day, that it is key for them to feel comfortable around me. So, we spent the literally perfect, summer evening strolling around the park, getting to know each other, and capturing these magical images.
We were wandering through Emerson Park towards a spot, when all of a sudden I did a double take and squealed. The light coming between the trees was unreal. It looked like a magical fairytale moment. That’s one of the things I love about doing a relaxed engagement session. We can wander around finding the best locations and light to amplify the couple! I quickly set Katie and Nate up in the magical little spot and we got some phenomenal images. It didn’t hurt that Katie and Nate were so fun in front of the camera. I can’t wait to spend more time with these two at their Belhurst Castle Wedding!
