A September wedding in central New York is always a beautiful sight, and that was certainly the case for Travis and Kaitlyn’s Locust Hill Country Club wedding. The morning started out calmly, with Kaitlyn and her friends getting ready at her parents’ house, while Travis and his pals were just down the street at a hotel.

I love capturing the end of the getting ready portion of the day. The excitement and anticipation, the friendships and cocktails—it’s such a fun atmosphere and I always make some of my favorite photos during this time.

Except for the getting ready, Kaitlyn and Travis had everything happen at Locust Hill Country Club, which I absolutely love. When everything is onsite, it makes for such a smooth day—less worry about travel and traffic jams, and more time for fun. When the two arrived at the Club, they shared an intimate and lovely first look followed by private vows.

I’ve had several couples now share private vows beforehand, and as a super introverted person, I LOVE this tradition. It’s so fun to get married in front of your family and friends, but sometimes taking that private moment to really share what’s in your heart is so beautiful and important. I’m glad these two had that moment for themselves.

After photo time, Kaitlyn and Travis held their ceremony outside in front of a pond during a late September afternoon. Golden light streamed around them as they said their vows and sealed it with a kiss. We spent a few more minutes taking some portraits to take advantage of golden hour, and then it was off to the party.

Their wedding reception was stunning. Not only was there mingling and dancing, but they also had an ice cream truck come and surprise their guests! It was such a unique and delightful touch that everyone loved.
