6 years ago, I met Joe when he was the best man at Nick and Jessy’s beautiful Keuka Lake Wedding. Fast forward to 2020 and I had the privilege of photographing Joe and Anamarie’s microwedding. Like so many couples this year, their plans for a large wedding had to be put on hold.
It was up in the air for a while about where they would hold their ceremony…they considered Boston, where they live, but in the end decided to stick with the original location of Joe’s family home on Seneca Lake.
The day started off with Joe, Anamarie, and their fluffy little cat getting ready together (well, the cat got to take a nap). I loved that they chose to get ready together, it allowed them to have some quiet time, just the two of them before the wedding festivities began!
They then chose to do a first look with all their guests! We had the guests turn around once Joe and Anamarie arrived. It was such a fun and special moment!
One of the great things about microweddings is that there’s a lot more time. Everything is able to be slowed down, and so after the reveal of the couple, we had lots of time for family photos! I don’t normally post a lot of family photos on the blog, but I loved a lot of these. There is clearly so much love among everyone.
With just a very small gathering of family and a few super close friends, Anamarie and Joe exchanged their vows under an arbor stunningly decorated with flowers from Whistlestop Florist. It was sweet, sentimental, and perfect. And it ended with the couple each taking a shot before processing back down the aisle! Not a bad way to enter into married life.
After the ceremony, Joe, Anamarie and myself wandered around the property and down to the dock to take lots of portraits. The sun was out, the weather was spectacular, and it was just such a wonderful portrait session!!
After portraits it was time for champagne, snacks, and toasts! The toasts were beautiful and funny (the perfect speech combination) and I love the photos captured during that time.
Overall it was such a wonderful day, I felt like I was spending the day among friends, just so much joy and laughter. So much laughter!! You may notice I posted a lot of photos of people laughing in this post. That’s because all day long everyone was full of smiles and laughs and those will always be my favorite photos.
I absolutely can not wait to hang out with these two again at their larger celebration next year! Until then, enjoy the photos 🙂
