For my whole wedding photography career, I’ve gone back and forth about offering clients a wedding album. I love albums. I want all my clients to have albums. But, from a business standpoint it can be tricky. Will I get less bookings if I include albums? Or will my packages be too expensive if they’re included? Maybe people will want to remove the albums from their packages? These are all questions that I have had to contend with.
I’m at a point in my business and in my belief about preserving memories, that I’ve made the decision that all of my packages moving forward will have an heirloom item. I have a few different options and today I’m showcasing the album. In short, I realize this won’t be for everyone, but I hope that my clients can understand and value albums just like I do.
Why do I want you to have a wedding album? Because I want you to really enjoy those photos. Let me tell you a secret. My wedding photos…they’re on a usb drive somewhere and my computer doesn’t even have a USB port on it! When I want to look at them, it takes me a long time to find them, find a hub so I can access the port and then go through them. Therefore, my kids don’t see them, because they’re hidden away, they’re not showcased anywhere. This is not what I want for you! (as an aside, I’m working on getting my own wedding photos printed!)
I want you to be able to pull out your album on a snowy Tuesday evening, while you’re sitting on your couch snuggling your boo. Relive that day, see those images with each other, your friends, and your dear family, including those who may no longer be with you. Relish in the joy you felt on your wedding day. We all need those little pockets of happiness in the middle of the week, right?
I want you to sit down with your kids, and your grandkids, and show them those photos. Your kids will ooooo and aaaaaa over your wedding attire and say ewwwww to the photos of their parents smooching. They will know who you were at the time in your life. Leave this legacy with them!
Your wedding photos are works of art. Showcase those beautiful images in an heirloom wedding album!
