When Mim and Jonathan set out to find a Syracuse wedding venue, they had so much to consider. Jonathan is a dreamer with big ideas. Mim keeps him grounded, including in the wedding planning process. Springside Farm was the perfect barn wedding venue for their large 300-person celebration. With the help of their wedding planner, they had a joyful wedding day full of wild flowers and fun.
Springside Farm is a barn wedding venue that balances a warm rural aesthetic with more modern minimalism. The interior of the barn has vaulted ceilings in warm wood. Market lights strung across the ceiling make it so inviting. You immediately feel relaxed and ready to enjoy the people around you. Having a big permanent structure like a barn is helpful in the event of rain, too, as it turned out.
Part of what makes a barn wedding at Springside Farm so memorable is the grounds. The property includes fields of wildflowers and a pine tree maze. Your wedding photos will be vibrant and varied without a lot of decor. Since the landscaping and decor are fairly minimal, the venue is a great blank canvas.
Mim and Jonathan wanted to keep their photography low key with the focus on candids. They didn’t want a lot of getting ready photos or particularly care about detail shots. I was happy to oblige! I believe your wedding photography should celebrate your beautiful love in whatever way makes the most sense for you.
However, Mim and Jonathan absolutely loved the big field of wildflowers near the venue. We knew we had to take some wedding portraits there! The three of us hopped in a truck and drove down the road until we found an ideal spot. The yellow and purple flowers under the epic blue and gray sky brought so much life to these portraits. These photos feel as bright and bold as Mim and Jonathan’s love.
Mim and Jonathan’s whole wedding was colorful. Their wedding party wore varying shades of purple, pink, and blue. The variety of colors and styles worked well for a relaxed barn wedding. The colors popped against the rustic weathered walls of the barn. Jonathan’s choice of a bright patterned suit was unexpected and fit the aesthetic of the day.
Before the ceremony, rain started to fall. Luckily, everything could be moved inside, including the giant flower arbor. Barn weddings have their perks! Even though the ceremony was inside, the saturated pinks, purples, and yellows of the arbor made it feel like Mim and Jonathan were in a field of wildflowers. That touch of nature and color made everything feel fresh and alive.
After the ceremony, the sun reemerged to shine some lovely golden light. Mim and Jonathan’s reception was exactly what they wanted it to be – a fun party with their friends and family. Dinosaur BBQ, a local favorite, catered the dinner, and guests enjoyed dancing around the barn late into the night.
